NORWEGIAN FOREST CAT
The Norwegian Forest Cat is a very large agile cat made for harsh weather and rough terrain. They have long flowing hair and tail which can come in any shades of brown, white, black, grey, red, blond, chestnut or orange. they have large eyes in the shape of almonds giving the animal a very bright and expressive face. To survive the wilderness of Scandinavia, the Norwegian Forest Cats have a very dense and warm undercoat, along with a long, water resistant top coat. Even though the animals have very long hair, it is not necessary. They have very large and dense paws made to trudge through snow. The cats are very intelligent and resourceful. The Norwegian forest cat is a natural hunter and survives well on their own. They are very good with children and adapt easily to their owners. The cat needs a couple hours out of the day to play. They especially love to play with their owners.
They cats were originally said to travel to North America with their owners, the Vikings, a long time ago. The cat is specifically of Norsk Skogkatt heritage. King Olaf Designated they cat as the official cat of Norway in the late nineteen seventies. Norwegian Forest Cats were granted championship status in 1984. In Nineteen seventy-nine, the first breeding pairs were imported to the United States.
