History: The Norwegain Forest Cat first appeared about 4000 years ago but has been in mythology since 800-1200 AD. This breed wasn't bred as a separate breed untill 1930, but by this time the original purebred breed was almost lost. World War II also played a major part in the loss of the breed. Many believe that the cats first appearace in America was with Lief Erikson, although their latest arivial was in 1979. They weren't recognized with the ACA until 1995.
Coat/Color: This cat has a two layer coat, an outer water resitant coat and an under coat that is like down. They loose their under coat and guard hairs twice a year. The hair on the tail can spread out to 12inches. There is also a think mane aroung their neck and their ears can grow hair up to 3 or 4 inches long. All caot patterns are acceptable except chocolate, sable, lilac, lavender, cinnamon, or any hymilayian-type markings.
Description: Head should be an equilateral triagle, ears are rounded at the tip and medium to large, their eyes should be almond shaped and either green, gold, green-gold, or copper. The males should be larger and more dense than the females and the paws should be large, round, and solid with a lot of fur around them.
Temperment: They love to climb on things so they can see everything. They are a kind, mothering breed and love attention from people.
