History: The Norwegain Forest Cat first appeared about 4000 years ago but has been in mythology since 800-1200 AD. This breed wasn't bred as a separate breed untill 1930, but by this time the original purebred breed was almost lost. World War II also played a major part in the loss of the breed. Many believe that the cats first appearace in America was with Lief Erikson, although their latest arivial was in 1979. They weren't recognized with the ACA until 1995.
